Psalm 103:1-6
Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds—He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion, who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
David begins by calling his own soul to rise up and give God wholehearted praise. He urges himself not to forget the countless ways God has shown goodness and mercy. God is the One who wipes away every sin, bringing complete forgiveness and restoring the heart. He brings healing to the broken places in a person’s life—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He rescues you from situations that could have destroyed you and lifts you out of places of despair. He surrounds you with His loyal love and tender compassion, placing them on you like a crown.
God continually fills your life with blessings that nourish, strengthen, and refresh you from the inside out. Because of His goodness, your inner strength is revived and lifted. And beyond His personal care, God also acts with righteousness and justice, defending those who are mistreated and standing up for the oppressed. This passage is a reminder to praise God not only for what He does, but for who He is—faithful, forgiving, healing, protective, generous, and just.
Prayer inspired by Psalm 103:1–6
Father, I bless Your holy name with all that I am. Stir my soul to remember Your goodness and never overlook Your kindness. Thank You for forgiving every sin that once weighed me down and for bringing healing to the broken places in my life. Thank You for rescuing me from things that could have destroyed me and for surrounding me with Your unfailing love and tender compassion. You fill my life with good things, and You restore my strength from within, lifting me up with renewed energy and hope. You are a God of justice, defending those who are mistreated and standing with the oppressed. Lord, let my life reflect the gratitude I feel for all You have done. May my heart stay anchored in Your mercy, my mind in Your truth, and my soul in Your praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
